Welcome to the website for the Waterlane flock small holding.
The small holding is nestled on the edge's of the village of Buckland Monachorum and Dartmoor national park.
Currently with around 5 acres and lots of plans for the future there will be plenty of change within the little farm,
So far we have planted a 30 tree orchard, Bought a small flock of pedigree Dartmoor grey faced sheep, Bought two pedigree saddleback breeding sows, built a chicken house for various rare breed chickens, and a duck house for our Indian runner ducks.
We have extended the original bungalow, allowing a "granny annex" to be built on one end, this has been a long time coming but it really is an amazing opportunity, allowing Janet to move into her new annex and her daughter Angelina and her family to move into the original bungalow to get the farm back up and working again.

Along with our plan to be as self sufficient as possible we have two other ideals we would like to use on the farm.
Firstly we will try and reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible within the house, we will do this via several different means, there will be both electric pv solar panels and water heating solar panels installed on the roof (there are currently 2 already) we will also have either an air source pump or a wood pellet boiler installed to help heat the water and radiators, we will also try to harvest as much rain water as possible.
The other ideal would be to try and work the land ourselves using the older techniques and implements, from the post war period and older, with any luck trying to pick up items from sales locally, and it would be good to get as many of them being made/ supplied by local manufacturers of their time.
